Top & Belt: Vintage, Thrifted- New Zealand
Shorts & Jazz Flats:Vintage, Thrifted -Oklahoma
Coat- Vintage, Thrifted, New Zealand
Headband: Random scrap of fabric
In some sort of cruel twist of fate I have been coming across my dream coats one after the other as we in New Zealand are heading into hot summer heat. I am such a big fan of fitting coats that look like the queen or a lovely old lady would wear. This is my blush coloured princess coat. It is my favourite so far.
I have not only thrifted this lovely masterpiece but also three perfect camel pea coats (one is a 60s juniors coat and has short arms, the sort that Alexa Chung wears), a perfect 60's look leopard fur number, a 70's plaid burnt orange and brown coat with a huge hood and Orla Kiely/ Dear Creatures style shoulders, a tan and cream cape and about a billion more!
I am dreaming about fall weather as the outerwear I'm finding stacks up. I can't wait to be able to wear a new coat each day and be able to layer. I have had to put half of them in storage as my coat closet is overflowing. I know as soon as I get colder weather though I will dream about lazy summer days and those beautiful warm breezes. I'm fickle like that.
I love hazy under lit photos this is my attempt. I want the type that blur when you move. I know I haven't mastered it, but I think the colours always look so lovely like this. This lace slip top has been my everyday piece the last week it is so light and floaty. I am so drawn to romantic looks lately I kind of like how messy my hair is in these too, makes me think I should lay off the straightener for awhile and just let it go wild.
oh gosh. that coat is absolutely perfect, such a wonderful thing to find in a second hand store. you lucky girl.

That coat is so, so gorgeous, and I wish my hair looked like this naturally. I have to put half a can of mousse in it to actually make it do something x
ReplyDeleteIt's a great colour on you, and you'll look absolutely resplendent in the winter! But don't wish it on!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to start thinking positively when my indoor photos blur. That's how I mean it to turn out... ; )
Isn't that always the way :/
ReplyDeleteI have some lovely pastel cardigans just sitting there begging to be worn. At least I can use them in classrooms during summer.
I absolutely love the coat. Perfect weight, buttons, collar, and colour.
I personally like more natural hair. Straight hair is too boring since the invention of the GHD 5 years ago.
That coat is just gorgeous! I can never find coats that are small enough in thrift stores.. it's like everyone that throws their coats away are size 20.
ReplyDeleteWow, how gorgeous! Such a pretty colour on you - and anything with a fur trim gets my vote :) I look forward to seeing the rest of the lovely sounding jackets in the coming months too, no doubt they'll make me even more envious of your amazing thrifting skills! Sally x
ReplyDeleteYour blog is adorable! Almost as adorable as that coat! Beauty. x
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that coat is just perfect! The colour is lovely, and along with that collar it's amazing :)

Gorgeous coat! Whereabouts in NZ do you thrift/op-shop?
ReplyDeletethat coat has such a great collar... i can see why you wish you had the weather to match it! it doesn't actually really get properly cold here in the bay area, but i must say that today's cloudy gloom left me longing for summer. in summer, of course, I'm eagerly awaiting fall weather. So it goes. You know how it is.
ReplyDeleteThese photos do look very romantic and lovely! I think you did a nice job :)

beautiful photos! I love the color of the coat- my favorite shade of pink :) Your shorts are great too! I've been looking for a pair of highwaisted shorts with just the right shape, but they always elude me...yours are perfect though!
ReplyDeletethat coat is rather perfect. i wish we could wear adorable wool coats in the dead of canadian winter but instead i am stuck in a super long and super shapeless massive parka thing that keeps my whole body protected/frumpy. and big ugly winter boots no less! sigh.

Lovely coat! I too have found some nice coats recently, but the good thing (which is really a bad thing) is that you know NZ has bad enough summer days that you will be able to wear it a few times during the season!

That coat is a stunner! Maybe just plan to spend your entire summer in freezing cold air conditioning so you can wear it? Ok, maybe that's not the most practical of suggestions. Love the cream singlet and shorts - a very streamlined look.
